Spring 2024 Office Hours:
Tuesday 12pm - 1pm

Phoebe received a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Classical Studies from Elon University in 2021. She has studied Greek, Latin, and German. In 2022 she presented her undergraduate research at the University of California, Riverside Conference on Queer and Transgender Studies in Religion. Her research uses frameworks from Sara Ahmed’s books Queer Phenomenology and What’s the Use? to examine a selection of Classical Greek vases that depict sex acts, investigating the “queer use” of seemingly ordinary objects (e.g., pillows) that point to queer identities of ancient sex-workers. In 2020 she worked as the Ancient Art Curatorial Intern at the RISD Museum.

Phoebe’s research interests are focused in Ancient Greek art, addressing past and current intersectional gender and sexuality issues as well as undertaking queer and feminist theories. She is also working toward earning the Graduate Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies at CU Boulder.
